eddie's first band, bad radio, was a southern california quartet whose initial focus was Red Hot Chili Peppers covers; they formed in 1986. eddie's last show with bad radio was in february of 1990.
these songs are notable as they offer a glimpse into the incipient stages of eddie vedder's song writing development. it was during his stint with bad radio that he penned "betterman". goof & gremmie had their first taste of bad radio from a Pearl Jam bootleg that was purchased for an exhorbitant $30 from a record store called - we kid you not - "the vinyl solution". classy. since the inception of the fanclub in 1991, Pearl Jam has sent a vinyl-only christmas single annually to members of the tenclub. ironically, the single often appeared in members' mailboxes closer to easter than the intended christmas leading to the phrase "holiday single". though the band's individual religious bends are unclear, what is clear is that they hold in their hearts a special fondness for christmas and their fans. goof & gremmie recommend "someday at christmas", "sonic reducer", and "let me sleep".

in 2005, eddie vedder suited up with the Walmer High School choir for the benefit of Molo Care, a not for profit organization that raises money for schools in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
love boat captain, betterman, and long road. while many others tracks were recorded, it's these three that will most likely interest Pearl Jam fans. the arrangements are stripped down instrumentally, but are wonderfully augmented by the choir's 10 additional voices.
