Blue? Brown? What’s the difference?
Thursday, July 13th, 2006For a moment there I forgot I even had a blog. I suppose the minute you start living you stop cataloguing. I remember living in Italy for a half year in the small, yet vivacious town of Siena. I had the idea that as soon as I arrived I would write everything down; I would organize my experience into a leather bound unlined journal from il Papiri I received as a gift from Sad J (the girl not the song). And I did it - at least until I developed a life and friends there. The incipient weeks were met with an equal number of daily pages in my journal detailing everything from this large piazza to that ornate facade, but as I joined the rock band Pott Rumm and started dating a girl 8 years my senior (20 v. 28) my proflic Bic sat and did more dust collecting than writing.
Boredom and maiden voyages make for a rich time for reflection. Right now I face only the former and even then just a smidgeon. With an upcoming Noisebucket show on August 3rd, the band and I have been finding pockets of free time for rehearsal. Much to my delight, we have also started kicking the tires of some new songs. Sad J (the song not the girl), is already in rotation on our setlists and after a recent studio session, I anticipate a reworked Opposite of Blue (the song not the color) will be shortly. Speaking of which, the band section of gremmie.net is now up and running. You can check it out here.
